How Do You Book a BLS Visa Appointment?

bls appointment

Short answer: BLS International is a private company that collects visa applications for some governments, most often Spain. To book a BLS appointment, open the official BLS website for your country and the embassy you are applying to, create an account, fill in the application details, choose a centre and time slot, and print the appointment letter. Booking on the official site is free; you pay the official fees when you submit.

What is a BLS appointment?

A BLS appointment is a booked time at a BLS International visa application centre where you hand in your visa documents and give your fingerprints and photo. BLS only collects and returns your application. The embassy decides whether you get the visa.

How do you book a BLS appointment, step by step?

  1. Confirm BLS handles your application. Check the embassy’s website for the country you’re visiting. It will say whether it uses BLS, VFS Global, TLScontact or its own office.
  2. Open the official BLS site for your country of residence. Spain applications in the UK, for example, have their own BLS UK site.
  3. Create an account with your email and phone number. Many BLS sites now link each appointment to your passport number.
  4. Choose your visa category (tourism, business, family visit, study and so on) and fill in your details.
  5. Pick the centre for your area. Embassies split countries into jurisdictions, so you must use the centre that covers where you live.
  6. Select a date and time, then confirm.
  7. Print the appointment letter or save it on your phone, and bring it with your original documents.

What should you bring to a BLS appointment?

  • Appointment confirmation letter
  • Passport valid for at least three months after your trip, with two blank pages, plus copies
  • Completed and signed visa application form
  • Recent passport photo that meets Schengen rules (see our visa photo guide)
  • Proof of residence in the country where you apply, if you’re not a citizen
  • Flight reservation, hotel booking or invitation, travel insurance, bank statements and a cover letter
  • Payment for the visa fee and BLS service fee

Can a travel agent book BLS appointments for you?

It depends on the country. In the UAE, BLS announced in July 2026 that Spain visa appointments must be self-booked, are tied to the applicant’s passport, and appointments obtained through agents are not accepted. Wherever you live, be careful with anyone selling “guaranteed” slots. BLS says booking on its website is free.

What if there are no BLS appointments available?

  • Check early in the morning and at the start of each week, when new slots often open.
  • Look at other centres in your jurisdiction, if you’re allowed to use them.
  • Apply earlier: Schengen visas can be requested up to six months before travel.
  • Never buy appointments from unofficial websites or social media sellers.

How do you track your application after the appointment?

Use the tracking tool on the same BLS website with your reference number. When your passport is ready, collect it or receive it by courier. If you were refused, the refusal letter explains why and how to appeal.
