How Do You Book a Qatar Biometric Appointment at a Qatar Visa Center?

biometric appointment qatar

Short answer: Most people who get a Qatar work visa give their fingerprints and photo at a Qatar Visa Center (QVC) in their home country. Your employer first applies to Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and gets a visa reference number. You then book a QVC appointment online with that number, attend in person for biometrics, a medical check and contract signing, and wait for the work visa.

What is a Qatar biometric appointment?

A biometric appointment is a short in-person visit where your fingerprints and photo are recorded for your Qatar visa. Qatar moved this step to Qatar Visa Centers in workers’ home countries, so most checks are finished before you fly. That means you can usually start work soon after you land.

Who needs to go to a Qatar Visa Center?

QVCs mainly handle employment visas. The first centres opened from 2018 in countries that send many workers to Qatar, including Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Philippines, Indonesia and Tunisia. More locations have opened since. If your employer tells you to “complete QVC”, this is the process they mean. Visitors and tourists usually apply online instead; see our Qatar visa guide.

How do you book a Qatar biometric appointment, step by step?

  1. Your employer applies first. The employer submits your work visa application through the Ministry of Interior website or the Metrash app.
  2. Get your visa reference number. Once the Ministry gives initial approval, your employer sends you the reference number.
  3. Book online. Go to the official Qatar Visa Center website, choose your country and nearest centre, enter your visa reference number and passport number, and pick a date.
  4. Print or save the confirmation. Bring it with your original passport on the day.
  5. Attend the appointment. Staff check your passport and documents, show you your employment contract to read and e-sign, then take your fingerprints and photo.
  6. Do the medical check at the medical section linked to the centre.
  7. Wait for your employer. When everything clears, your employer receives the work visa and tells you.

What should you bring?

  • Original passport, valid for at least six months
  • Your visa reference number and appointment confirmation
  • Any documents your employer or the centre asks for, such as educational certificates or experience letters for skilled jobs
  • Passport-size photos if requested (see our visa photo guide)

Requirements differ by job and nationality, so always follow the checklist your employer and the centre send you.

Read your contract before you sign

At the QVC you e-sign your employment contract, usually in English and your own language. Check the job title, salary, working hours and allowances match what you were offered. You receive a copy at the end. If something is wrong, raise it with your employer before you finish the process.

What are the most common problems?

  • Booking before the reference number is active. Wait until your employer confirms initial approval.
  • Using agents who sell appointments. Booking through the official site is the safe route. Never pay strangers for a “guaranteed slot”.
  • Name mismatches between your passport and the employer’s application. Ask your employer to fix them first.
  • Missing the medical step. Your visa cannot be issued until the medical check is complete.

How long does the Qatar visa take after biometrics?

It depends on your medical results and your employer’s processing. Many applicants hear back within a few weeks, but there is no fixed official time. Our Qatar processing time guide covers the online visa routes.

How can Alif Visa help?

We help applicants understand each step, check documents and prepare files. For a work visa, your employer must start the application with Qatar’s Ministry of Interior. If you’re unsure where you stand, talk to our team or check your route.
